Growing the Consortium
Since October 2025, the consortium has welcomed 181 new members, expanding our network of innovators and collaborators across industry, academia, and the nonprofit sector.

Advancing Critical BARDA Priorities
The consortium continued to accelerate innovation by supporting new opportunities across diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccine development.
New Project Award
In December 2025, the consortium awarded a project to Duke University to establish BARDA’s centralized, GCLP-compliant immunoassay hub, creating a critical capability to support standardized immunological testing and evaluation across future programs. Learn more about the projecthere.
Enabling Technologies
Issued the Neuromuscular Junction Micro-Physiological Systems for Botulinum Neurotoxin Potency Measurement and Medical Countermeasures Evaluation Request for Information (RFI).
Vaccines & Therapeutics
Released the New Vaccine Platforms RFI to explore next-generation vaccine technologies.
Released the Host Directed Therapeutics for the Prevention of Progression to ARDS RFI, followed by the corresponding Request for Project Proposals (RPP) later that month.
Diagnostics
Issued the Agnostic Diagnostics RPP.
Issued the Assay Development for Superior Understanding of Response and Efficacy RPP.
Released the Rapid Antibody Production for Immunoassay Diagnostics RFI, followed by a corresponding RPP in April 2026.
RRPV On the Move
Our team continued to engage with innovators, researchers, and government partners through conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen collaboration across the medical countermeasure ecosystem.
World Vaccine Congress Washington From March 31–April 2, the RRPV team exhibited at the World Vaccine Congress in Washington, D.C., alongside the Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Preparedness Consortium (BioMaP-Consortium) and Medical CBRN Defense Consortium (MCDC). The event provided valuable opportunities to connect with current and prospective members, share consortium activities, and explore emerging technologies shaping the future of vaccine development.
RAPID Proposer's Conference & Teaming Connect Webinar In April, RRPV hosted a combined proposer’s conference and teaming connect webinar for the RAPID RPP. The event featured presentations from six organizations and brought together 102 attendees, fostering new partnerships and helping potential proposers identify teaming opportunities.
On Demand Manufacturing Workshop On May 21, RRPV hosted its first in-person workshop for On Demand Manufacturing (ODM) for Therapeutic Biologics in Arlington, Virginia. Bringing together experts from industry, government, academia, and nonprofit organizations, the workshop served as a collaborative forum to explore the future of on-demand manufacturing for therapeutic biologics. Participants shared insights on emerging technologies, operational challenges, and innovation opportunities that will help shape future funding opportunities, consortium activities, and the next generation of biomanufacturing capabilities.

The Medical Countermeasure Clinical Research Centers (MCCRC) focus area is driving the future of agile, end-to-end clinical trial capabilities to support the rapid development of medical countermeasures for public health emergencies and national security threats. Through partnerships with leading Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) and Clinical Networks, MCCRCs provide comprehensive support across
the full clinical trial lifecycle, from study design and regulatory strategy to trial execution, data analysis, and regulatory submissions. By leveraging innovative trial designs, real-world evidence, artificial intelligence, digital health technologies, and remote monitoring tools, MCCRCs are helping accelerate the development of vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, and medical devices for emerging infectious diseases, pandemic influenza, and CBRN threats.
Exciting developments are on the horizon. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a potential opportunity connected to this focus area and new ways to engage with the MCCRC community.

Q: What trends or innovations do you foresee shaping the future of the industry, and how is your company preparing for those changes?
A: The future of MCM development hinges on transitioning from animal-based potency testing to validated human-relevant in vitro platforms—and importantly doing so at scale and with cost savings. We foresee growing global regulatory acceptance of such platforms through FDA programs like ISTAND, driven by the need for faster development timelines, reduced costs, and alignment with 3Rs principles (replacement, reduction, refinement).
Curi Bio is advancing this transition by positioning the NMJ platform as a scalable, validated replacement to animal models while building regulatory pathways that enable MCM manufacturers and pharma companies to confidently adopt this technology for lot release and potency assessment.
